Answer
(Summarized answers have been included in addition to the reflection for the ease of the reader’s understanding and to potentially shed more light on the reflection)
1. What were your first impressions of me, or what type of first impression do others have of me?
Smart, quiet, polite, knowledgeable, kind
2. What does my face look like when I think no one is looking?
Looking far off, thinking, staring into the distance
3. If you did not know me, based on my nonverbal communication, would you approach me? Why or why not?
Yes. I would approach most positive or neutrally approachable people. You are in the middle, not bubbly with big smile or with a scowl. However also not uncomfortable but also not inviting.

1. Did what I learned surprise me?
I think some of it was surprising. Particularly the “what does my face look like when no one is looking” question. I don’t think I had put much thought into this prior to the exercise and had preconceptions about it or anything but it was still somehow surprising. The other 2 were fascinating but not altogether astonishing.
2. Was it easy to ask these questions and listen to the answers?
It was mildly uncomfortable asking the questions. I imagine with other family members or friends it might have been more uncomfortable but my father and I have a good rapport. On the other hand, listening to the answers (especially the more positive responses such as the first one) was nearly unbearable.
3. Based on this information, what do I need to work on so that people see me as a professional in the work environment?
I think I could make myself seem a bit more approachable. I struggle however to solidify how I would go about making myself more welcoming. Perhaps I don’t make enough effort to go speak to those whom I do not know. I think I am going to have to continue thinking on how to go about this. However, perhaps the thing I think I might have taken away most from this assignment is that I do not take positive reinforcement (or perhaps complementation at all) with much grace. As stated before, listening to positive feedback in this exercise was very difficult for me. [Show Less]
