RASHID AHMED
GUIDED REFLECTION QUESTIONS
Opening Questions
How did the simulated experience of Rashid Ahmed’s case make you feel?
- The simulation
... [Show More] helped me understand how important it is to educate the patient on findings and medications. I enjoed the simulation because it provided me with the ability to develop new skills to utilize in the health care facility with real patients.
Talk about what went well in the scenario.
- The medication administration went well for me in the imulation. It visualized the steps of medication administration since I was unable to try due to what is happening in the world. It was easy to implement the doctor orders for the patient.
Reflecting on Rashid Ahmed’s case, were there any actions you would do differently if you were to repeat this scenario? If so, how would your patient care change?
- I would implement education during appropriate times instead of craming in all the education at the end. In a health care facility the patient might lose focus if there is a lot of things going on at once.

EBP Identify the rationale for weighing Rashid Ahmed at the same time each day wearing the same clothing.
- To weigh someone at the same time and same clothes each day enforces accuracy. To weigh someone who is dehydrated, may be to see fluid retention or to see if he gains weight; which would be improvent of patients health.
EBP Discuss the rationale for infusion of 0.9% normal saline.
- The purpose of the saline solution is to rehydrate the cells of the body to reduce the affects of dehydration

Describe how you would apply the knowledge and skills that you obtained in Rashid Ahmed’s case to an actual patient care situation.
- Mr. Ahmed’s case helped me undertsnad the lab values as well as the signs and symptoms of someone experiencing dehydration. When in an actual patient care situation, the simulating will help me pick up on this illness easier and help me implement care for thr patient. [Show Less]
