If LPC becomes aware if another LPC/Candidate is engaging in sexual conduct that violates the Act, the LPC must
Report it to the Board within 30 days
LPC's should not disclose supervisee confidences to anyone, EXCEPT:
as mandated by law, in case of clear and imminent danger to a person or persons, where the professional counselor is a defendant in a civil, criminal, or disciplinary action arising from the supervision, waiver previously obtained in writing and only according to the waiver
LPC Applicant paperwork- negative reference
Appear for an interview before the licensure is completed
Supervisor should keep records for each supervisee for at least
5 years beyond the termination or completion of supervised experience
Termination of Supervision Agreement form must be submitted to the Board within
3 business days of termination
Approved LPC Supervisors are required to complete a minimum of
3 clock hours of continuing education in counseling supervision each renewal period
Full time supervision
20 hours per week
Face-to-face supervision
45 minutes for every 20 hours on the job experience
Continuing Education-
20 hours per year (at least 3 in ethics)
Acceptable Continuing Education
Licensed/certified counseling related profession, licensed/certified member of non-counseling field (medicine, law) if content on the presentation is counseling related & falls within the presenter's area of training, teaching @ graduate level in regionally accredited university in any knowledge area, presented at ntnl mental health conference provided by APA, ACA, is presenting in a program sponsored or provided by a state or federal government agency with respect for mental health and substance abuse, takes place in context of conference college course, in-service training, institute, seminar, and board pre-approved home study distance learning, takes place at ntnl mental health conference
1st licensing period, continuing education must be
40 hours in 24 months (2 years)
Continuing Education accrual from teaching
No more than 10 CEU's yearly for teaching; 2 hours CEU's for each hour taught; must be in programs, institutes, seminars, workshops, conferences when it conforms to Act providing teaching is not required as part of the LPC's regular employment
CEU's documentation
Retain verification of attendance documents for a period of 2 years
Failure to submit CEU requirements by renewal date
Renders the license in suspension; all rights granted by license are null and void until requirements are fulfilled & late renewal is paid
License suspension
12 months from date of suspension to fulfill requirements for reinstatement. If not reinstated, license shall expire
Initial licensing period
After first 2 years of licensure, submit verification of at least 40 hours of CEU's required for renewal.
Annual renewals
Renewals expire each June 30th, with renewal fee of $80
Inactive status
Written request; payment $25; may be reactivated with fee & CEU's
Informed consent
Rights & responsibilities of both LPC & client; ongoing part of relationship; LPC properly document discussion of informed consent
Complaint Procedure: Upon receiving RFI, executive director will:
Stamp first page of RFI indicating date of receipt, review RFI to determine if the person against whom the RFI is made is a person who is subject to the jurisdiction of the Board, generate a letter to complainant indicating receipt of RFI
Reviewing RFI, executive director has authority to do following:
Respond directly to complainant without need for referral to the complaint committee when matters do not allege a violation of Act/rules, refer a RFI to complaint committee when allegations would be a violation of Act/rules [Show Less]
