Specialty - Answer- designation of a subarea of counseling practice that is recognized by national certification agency or Board.

Duties and Responsibilities of State Board of Behavioral Health Licensure - Answer- 1. create rules to implement and enforce the provisions of the LPC Act including the State Department of Health rules.
2. Adopt and establish rules of professional conduct.
3. set license and examination fees
4. authority to seek injunctive relief and ask DA to enforce provisions of LPC Act
5. receive and deposit fees
6. issue, renew, revoke, deny, suspend, and place on probation licenses
7. examine all applicants
8. request assistance form State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision for investigating complaints.
9.accept grants and gifts
10. employ such personnel as the Executive Director may deem necessary
Each applicant for a license to practice as a LPC shall: - Answer- 1. be possessed of good moral character
2. pass an exam based on standards presented by the Board
3. Be at least 21 years
4. not have engaged in, nor be engaged in, any practice or conduct which would have grounds for denying, revoking, or suspending a license.
5. comply with rules of Board and LPC Act
In addition to previous qualifications, applicants shall have: - Answer- 1. successfully completed at least (60) graduate semester hours (90 quarter hours) of counseling related course work.
2. 3 years of supervised full-time experience in professional counseling (no less than 1 year of supervised full-time experience.
Examinations for licensure - Answer- Includes the National Counselor Examination and the Oklahoma Legal and Ethical Responsibilities Examination
1. Board will determine passing grade of examinations which cover technical, professional, and practical subjects as related to practice of counseling.
2. if failed, applicant can reapply.
Receiving Licensure from Board - Answer- an applicant who meets requirements for licensure based on LPC Act, has paid fees, and complied with LPC Act will be licensed by the Board.
1. Initial license will expire (24) months from the date of issuance.
2. license may be renewed annually with fees.
3. if expired more than one year, it will not be reinstated.
Limits of Confidentiality - Answer- 1. Client request for release of information
2. Child is under 18 and indicated child was victim of crime or subject of crime
3. if counselor is being sued by client
4. Court orders for release of information

6. Violation of crime or criminal acts
Penalties for using LPC title or practicing counseling without license: - Answer- 1. be guilty of a misdemeanor and be fined no less than $100 nor more than $500 for each offense.

Any person who has violated any provisions of the LPC Act will pay - Answer- the maximum administrative penalty shall not exceed $10,000 which will be deposited into the LPC Revolving Fund.
Statement of Professional Disclosure - given to client - Answer- All LPC's except those employed by federal, state, or local governmental agencies, shall give the client a copy of their Statement of Professional Disclosure and on file with the Board at all times.
Licensing Fees and Annual Renewal Fee - Answer- set by the Board upon recommendations of the Oklahoma Licensed Professional Counselors Advisory Board. No more than ($300) for license and no more than ($200) for renewal. ($25) for replacement.

Dual Relationship - Answer- means familial, social, financial, business, progression, close personal, sexual, or other non-therapeutic relationship with client.
Direct Client Contact Hours - Answer- Means the performance of therapeutic or clinical functions that include diagnosis, assessment, and treatment or mental, emotional, and behavioral, disorders based on verbal communications and presence of clients.
Face-to-face supervision - Answer- supervisor and candidate shall be in physical presence of other during individual or group supervision.
Forensic Services - Answer- means the application of knowledge, training, and experience from the mental health field to the establishment of facts and/or establishment of evidence in court of law or ordered by court of law.
Formal Complaint - Answer- written statement of alleged violations of the Act and/or rules which is filed by the assistant attorney general.
Full Time - Answer- means at least 20 hours of on-the-job experience per week.
Group Supervision - Answer- assemblage of 2 to 6 Candidates
Home-Study or Technology-assisted distance learning - Answer- delivery of graduate coursework or continuing education through mailed correspondence or other distance learning technologies. Education to those who are not physically in presence of educator.
Licensure Committee - Answer- means two LPC Board members, executive director, and other appropriate individuals.

On-Site Supervisor - Answer- person who may not be approved LPC Supervisor but is licensed by the state of Oklahoma as a LMFT, LPC, LBP, Psychologist, CSW, LADC and is emplyed by agency where candidate works and is available at all times when counseling services are being rendered by candidate.
RFI (request for inquiry) - Answer- means written or oral statement of complaint form any person alleging possible violations of the Act and/or rules.
Respondent - Answer- means a person against whom an Individual Proceeding in initiated.
Technology-assisted supervision - Answer- refers to supervision that occurs through video teleconferencing, over secure internet connections and separate physical locations of candidate and supervisor.
Responsibility of LPC - Answer- 1. Value objectivity and integrity, strive to maintain the highest standard of their profession.
2. Accept responsibility for the consequences of their work and use services appropriately.
3. Be alert to personal, social, organizational, financial, and political situations or pressures that might lead to the misuse of their influence.
4. Not participate or condone or be associated with dishonesty, fraud, deceit, or misrepresentation.
5. Note exploit their relationships with clients for personal advantage, profit, satisfaction, or interest.
