SECURITY STRATEGY
Meager Media being a medium-sized company and with multiple locations of its store
across different countries, will be required to
... [Show More] follow PCI DSS to incorporate its credit card
processing (Clapper & Richmond, 2016). This will be undertaken through the
implementation and integrating the PCI DSS requirement while ensuring that the components
are included in the Meager Media e-commerce website. Hence the proposed methods will
ensure that all the six principles and the various 12 requirements as dictated by PCI DSS are
implemented (Ciampa, 2012).
The main aim of undertaking this step is based on the need to ensure that the company
website is as safe as possible and is well coordinated through the various entry and linked
devices while boosting its security and accessibility. The company's e-commerce websites
should enhance its security and connection by implementing POP3, HTTPS, and TCP/IP as
the most basic security measures. This will improve the accessibility of the websites while
making it secure from unauthorized access (Ciampa, 2012). The company should also ensure
that it deploys a strong and updated firewall that prevents public access to the website and
stop any hacking attempt from unauthorized access. The firewall will act as a safety guideline
to hackers who are known to possess some skill in information technology (Clapper &
Richmond, 2016). The firewall should be regularly updated and as complex as possible to be
considered effective. The company will also be expected to avoid sharing any confidential
data with an unauthorized person and third parties. This may involve the company being
forced to check and ascertain the identification of the various clients in its portfolio and even
employee who is about to access their website or even exchanging credit card data that is
considered quite confidential. To tackle this, the company will be expected to use some
advanced encryption techniques that can hide credit card data and hence make it confidential
even when it falls into the wrong hands (Ciampa, 2012). [Show Less]
