Welcome to the Teaching Practice TPF3704 module. This examination portfolio 50 must be completed as part of the compulsory four weeks of learning in practice, and one week of learning from practice. You do not need to be in the school during this one week. During these five weeks, you are expected to complete face-to-face case studies and online activities. We hope you will find this module interesting and that it will enrich your teaching career.
You must read through all the tutorial letters you receive as they always contain important and urgent information. You can download them soon after registration. They are our way of communicating with you about teaching, learning and assessment.
Tutorial Letter 101 contains important information about the assignments for this module. We urge you to read through it carefully, to keep it at hand when working through the study material, preparing the assignments, and addressing questions to your lecturers.
We have also included certain general and administrative information about this module. Please study this section of the tutorial letter carefully. It contains all the information to guide you on how to complete your entire Teaching Practice. You are required to complete face-to-face case studies, and the online lesson activities as provided in this tutorial letter. You are urged to submit this examination portfolio before the due date. This examination portfolio is the final examination of the TPF3704 module.

1. GENERAL INFORMATION
1.1 Overview of the teaching practice requirements for TPF3704
The five weeks teaching practice for TPF3704 comprises 4 weeks learning in practice (face- to-face) and 1 week learning from practice (case study).
Learning in practice – Classroom teaching

Learning from practice – Case study

• You may not spend just a few days at a time in a grade. You must spend a full week in each grade.
• You may devote five consecutive weeks to your teaching practice.
• Alternatively, you may start by doing the first two weeks and then the remaining three weeks later.
• You must read the placement requirements (5 weeks) for your teaching practice, which is dealt with by the Teaching Practice Office.
• The full five weeks must be indicated on your placement form.
• If you are completing your teaching practice at two schools (preschool and primary school), this must be indicated.
• No student will be allowed to do their teaching practice before receiving confirmation of placement from the Teaching Practice Office – Read Tutorial Letter 102.
• Lecturers do not issue confirmation of placement.
• Your assignments must be submitted two weeks after you have completed your teaching practice at the school.
2. General rules for submitting assignments/workbooks for teaching practice
Read all the announcements on myUnisa – they are very important. Communication in this regard takes place only via myUnisa and myLife e-mail.
Remember the following when submitting an assignment online via myUnisa:
• You must include the completed student information as the front page.
• You must write clearly.
• You must submit the assignment correctly.
• Make sure your student number is correct.
• Make sure you number the assignment correctly.
• Make sure that you have included the correct content.
• Save the file as your student number surname module code assignment number – this way you will be sure to upload the correct file. Example: Student number surname TPF3704 ASS 51.
Uploading on myUnisa:
When you upload on myUnisa, make sure:
• that you have numbered the assignment correctly
• that the content is correct
• that your student number is correct
• that the pages are clear
• that the pages are in order
• that the pages are right side up
Further things to remember:
• You may upload only one PDF document.
• You may not upload an MS Word document or a zipped file.
• You may not upload a PDF read-only document.
• The system has been opened for large PDF files for teaching practice modules.
• The assignment is recorded on the system automatically.
• Read the information on myUnisa regarding uploading.
o Do not submit your assignment in hard copy by means of the postal system as well.
• If you submit an incorrect assignment, you will obtain 0%.
• The online assignments are marked online.
• No individual assignment marks are released for the teaching practice workbooks.
• The final mark is released at the end of the year for the teaching practice module.
• You must pass the module in the year in which you registered for the module.
ASSIGNMENTS SUBMITTED LATE WILL NOT BE MARKED.
NO EXTENSIONS WILL BE GRANTED.
NO RESUBMISSIONS ARE ALLOWED.
IF YOU COMMIT PLAGIARISM, YOUR ASSIGNMENT WILL NOT BE MARKED. REMEMBER THAT THIS FORMS PART OF YOUR FINAL EXAMINATION PORTFOLIO.
You will receive the final portfolio mark in December.

3. ADDITIONAL RESOURCES
The theory for this workbook/portfolio will appear in a number of theoretical modules and will be posted on myUnisa under Additional Resources. Along with your theoretical modules, you will also have to consult CAPS, or any other curriculum followed by the school, such as a private school that uses the ISASA curriculum or the curriculum of the country of residence. The Annual Teaching Plans (ATPs), term plans and weekly plans also need to be obtained from the school you are attending for the teaching practice.
