-Employees are from different backgrounds and have different ideas, but together, bring out the best result to help customers and communities. I found on State Farm web page, it has a challenge called 100 Acts of Good before the 100th anniversary in 2022.
-Insurance: Car, home, health, life
-Banking: credit cards, checking and savings account, vehicles and home loans.
Why this position?
-I desire to be apart of State Farm's investment team that is entrusted with $250 Billion to support the Nation's #1 Auto and Home insurer.
- Private Equity: I want to help assist the team by conducting research, financial analysis, and due diligence to support the Private Equity Team. I want to provide investment recommendations that uphold State Farm's 4-P investment process: people, philosophy, process, and performance
-Corporate Bonds: I desire a deeper understanding on corporate bond trading and portfolio analysis to determine if a specific company is a good investment for State Farm by analyzing their management, financials, business strategies, and specific industries
-Real Estate: I want to be apart of a sector where they asset is tangible and the value never goes to zero. I wish to conduct real estate specific research in growing sectors such as quick service restaurants and Senior housing to assist State Farm to maximize their investment potential
- lastly, I want to make an impact as an intern by participating in projects, interacting with senior team members, and elevate my financial knowledge and career to the next level
What have you done to learn more about State Farm and its business and what have you learned?
1. I have visited the State Farm website, read reviews on glassdoor, and talked to individuals I know who have worked at state farm to gain more insight into the company, learn about their mission statement, and their community involvement.
- I have learned that the State Farm mission is to help people manage the risks of everyday life, recover from the unexpected, and realize their lifelong dreams. They compare their business and service to that of a good neighbor as they're always going to be there for their clients.
-I gained insight into their shared values such as quality service and relationships, mutual trust, integrity, and financial strength.
-They want to be the customer's first and best option in their products and services that they provide.
-Lastly, they continue to be the industry leader in providing the best service to their clients.
2. I also had the opportunity to research State Farm's different investment divisions such as Private Equity, Corporate Bonds, and Real Estate
-Private Equity: Manage $3.7Billion in committed capital
-Corporate Bonds: Manage $65 Billion in assets
-Real Estate: Manage $14 Billion of State Farm's total investment assets
