1a) 1. Teach Vani coping and calming strategies.
- Children with autism can be taught coping and calming
strategies that they can use when they feel anxious,
frustrated or stressed. Providing children with physical and
emotional tools can help them to regulate their emotions.
- Vani’s teacher can create a calm space where there are
weighted blankets, noise-cancelling headphones, fidgets and
sensory tools such as clay or bean bags.
- Simple exercises such as tapping on the floor or deep
breathing can help Vani when there are a lot of children
around her. alot
- Whenever Vani has a sensory overload or feels anxious,
Vani can use the exercise or go to the calm room until she is
