Answer: The best practices of mental imagery in terms of techniques and
strategies that the National, UAAP Athletes and coaches used in their
competitions are the following:
Familiarise the athletes with the competition site, stadium and race
track. By familiarizing the athletes to the venue of the event will help them
to grasp the mood of the competition. They can be familiarized on what
are the strategies and techniques that they are going to use that are
applicable to the event’s site.
Motivate the athletes by recalling images of their goals, or of
success in a past competition or beating their rivals in a competition.
Most athletes have their own rivals and goals that they want to achieve. As
a coach, you must motivate them and remind them on why they are
participating in that competition. What are their goals and want to achieve.
By helping the athletes to know their purpose on joining that competition
will help them to win that event.
Perfect the skills that the athletes is learning or refining. The athletes
must know to grasp their own skills and talent. By doing mental imagery,
they can figure out on how to maximize their skill to its full potential.
Mastering their own skills can also help them to have an upper hand in
their competitions.
Reducing negative thoughts and focus on the positive outcome. You
must train your mental imagery to disregards all of the negative thoughts
on the outcome of the game. An athlete and coaches must have a strong
will to win and have a positive mindset.
Expect for the success. Have a mindset of a champion. Claim the crown
before you grab it. Be confident in your own skill.
Set the stage for a performance. When you are entering the event’s site,
