Proof of Credits
The continuing education provider shall provide to licensees documentation
establishing completion of the class. Licensees shall retain proof of their
continuing education credits for one year beyond the credit's expiration. The
continuing education provider shall retain documentation of all licensees
completing a class and the licensee's credit hours awarded by them for five years.
Audit
- The board conducts random audits of active licensees and continuing education
providers to ensure compliance with the requirements of this section.
- To initiate an audit, the board must notify active licensee and request proof of
credits
- The licensee must provide the requested proof to the board within 30 days
- The board may request that a continuing education provider verify a licensee's
credits. - The provider must furnish verification within 15 days of the board's
request for verification. - If the board determines that a licensee has failed to

Advertising

practitioner.
- Any salon advertisement must list the licensed name of the salon as shown on the
salon license
- Franchise and corporations using a common name in advertisements related to
multiple locations can use the common brand name instead of the full assumed
name listed on the salon license.
- Salons must list staff first names when referencing stylists
- An individual practitioner advertising the practitioner's licensed services must list
either the full name as shown on the individual's license or the name of the salon as
shown on the salon license.
- A practitioner leasing space in a licensed salon may advertise under a business
name if the full name of the practitioner as shown on the practitioner's license is
listed.
- Only currently licensed practitioners may identify themselves as a
"cosmetologist," etc.
