1.0 Scope of project not clearly outlined with detail.
The scope of the project indicates what is included and not included in the project. In a way,
the scope sets the goals of the project which ultimately leads to the project members having
to adhere closely to ensure the project is a successful one. Failure to outline a realistic,
tangible, and critical scope of the project would lead to a project failing due to several
reasons.
First reason is that project scope creep, the tendency for the scope of the project to
continually increase, may happen. Scope creep would ultimately result in an overburdening
of project resources such as exhausting the budget of the project, failures to meet deadlines,
as well as overstressing the project team members as they try to make ends meet for the everincreasing project scope.
Another reason that failing to outline project scopes properly would lead to failure is since
project scopes essentially act as the ‘pacemaker’ or ‘constitution’ of the project whereby it
formally sets project’s division of labor among its project members, division of resources and
time management which acts as the ‘blueprint’ or plan of the project, some members may
misinterpret the scope of the project and therefore create a misunderstanding among project
members.
A clearly outlined project scope would inform all project members of what is and what is not
included in the project explicitly, thus preventing scope creep and eliminating any confusion
or misperception [Show Less]
