-accept responsibility for the consequences of their work & make sure services are used appropriately
-be alert to personal, social, organizational, financial, & political situations or pressures that might lead to the misuse of their influence
-not participate/condone/associated w/ dishonesty, fraud, deceit or misrepresentation
-shall not exploit their relationships w/ clients for personal advantage, profit, satisfaction, or interest
Competence- Counseling - Answer- -practice only within the boundaries of their competence, based on education, training, supervised, experience, state & national professional credentials, & appropriate professional experience
-only practice in new areas when they've received the necessary education, training & supervised experience, & shall take steps to ensure the competence of work provided & to protect others from possible harm
Competence- Testing and Assessment - Answer- -know the limits of their competence & shall therefore perform only those testing & assessment services for which they've received training & supervision in the administration, scoring & interpretation processes associated w/ the provisions of such services
-received training on assessments, select current edition, culturally appropriate for the client
Competence- Diagnosis of Mental Disorders - Answer- -proper diagnosis of mental disorders in their clients
Competence- Specialty - Answer- not represent themselves as specialists in any aspect of counseling, unless so designated by the Board
Competence- Research - Answer- -plan, design, conduct, & report research only in a manner as published in section G., Research and Publication, of the ACA code of ethics, approved by the ACA Governing Council
Competence- Impairment - Answer- -not offer or render professional services when services may be impaired by a personal physical, mental or emotional condition(s). seek assistance for any such personal problem(s) w/ their physical, mental or emotional condition, &, if necessary, limit, suspend, or terminate their professional activities
-if the LPC possesses a bias, disposition, attitude, moral persuasion or other similar condition that limits their ability to recommend a course of treatment or decision-making that is indicated, & under such circumstances where all other treatment & decision options are contra-indicated, then in that event the LPC won't provide counseling and will terminate
Competence- Knowledge of Impairment - Answer- if the LPC knows of another LPC violating an obligation, within 30 days you must report to the board
-report must contain:
1-name of LPC making report
2-name of LPC who's allegedly impaired
3-any facts that can be revealed concerning the impairment
4-LPC must maintain confidentiality of the client, unless the client signs a release
Competence- Knowledge of any Sexual Conduct - Answer- if LPC becomes aware that another LPC is engaged in sexual conduct that violates, must report within 30 days
-report must contain:
1-name of LPC making report
2-name of LPC who's alleged to have engaged in sexual conduct
3-any facts that can be revealed concerning the sexual conduct
4-LPC must maintain confidentiality of the client, unless the client signs a release
Competence- Forensic Services (and 7 conditions) - Answer- forensic services include: assessments, interviews, consultations, custody evaluations, reports, expert testimony, or other activities that's undertaken or conducted may later become a trier of fact or decision maker, only in the following conditions:
-LPC demonstrate competence by education & experience in subject matter
-LPC provide a written notice & make a reasonable attempt to obtain a signature acknowledging receipt of such notice of those subject to forensic services (includes: description of procedure & evaluation, how info will be distributed, fees, explanation of the role of evaluator if called to provide expert testimony)
-maintain written records, that's legible to 3rd persons, of all contacts & info received & used in the preparation of their report
-conduct thorough examination & must utilize face-to-face interview [Show Less]
