These past 8 weeks have been eye-opening and mind-blowing to me. We all learn every day and it seems like when you think you are at epic, something new comes up. I have learned a lot of things in terms of nursing evidence-practice and research. As a nurse, we base situation on past experiences and practice and try to find ways to improve them. We even use our “gut instinct or intuition even though we cannot explain to people reasons for our decision making on critical care.
According to Stevens, 2013, evidence-based practice (EBP) has been pronounced across nursing practice, science, and education. There is a need to transform healthcare into an effective, efficient, and safe practice. Nurses have valuable contributions that are promising on EBP. Initiatives including education and curricular realignment, model and theory development, practice adoption, scientific engagement in new fields of research and development of national research network is a focus in the improvement of patient care (Stevens, 2013).
Evidence-based practice focuses on current knowledge married with evidence in the past that have worked and connected them into common care decisions to have excellent patient outcomes. Our daily experiences on the floor taking care of patients become a rubber stamp as a vision or baseline for better care in future.
My goal is to either complete CRNP or CRNA hopefully soon. I really value the knowledge I have achieved in this class. It was a great journey and enjoyed sharing thoughts and knowledge.
