“Where can educators find credible images, videos, audio files, games, puzzles, and the like that can enrich their skills for teaching the 3Ps?”
ANSWER
Annotation: The Learning Nurse Resources Network is an online learning center to help nurses and other healthcare professionals learn about medical and medicine in a fun way. The website is developed by Steppingstones Partnership, Inc., a for profit organization based in Canada, and offers e-Learning for continuing education and professional development.
The company provides services to government, profit and non-profit agencies, as well as public sector organizations. The Learning Nurse provides 174 free quizzes and 156 games in various nursing topics, such as pharmacology, dosage calculations, patient assessments, medical-surgical, diseases processes, and many more. I find this website useful in testing my knowledge and a good reference how to build tests or quizzes. I think students will find the site fun and useful to learn nursing.
Web Source 2 URL: https://www.picmonic.com
Annotation: Picmonic.com is a website built to assist medical and nursing students or professionals learn through pictures. The site is created by three entrepreneurs, who consult a team of medical professionals (both doctors and nurses) with contents of the site. Clients can sign up for free, but with limited access, or pay a membership fee for unlimited access.
The website offers free services to educators and students (based on financial needs). Picmonic.com offers quizzes, study guides, infographics, and webinars. Topics include pathophysiology, pharmacology, nursing and medical assessments, microbiology, surgeries, etc. Members can add own notes and customize study recommendations. I joined for the free access to simply see how this site works. I personally like studying with pictures because I am a visual person. Pictures helped me understand better although I wish the pictures were more animated. The thing with the free access meant I could only access it every 24-hour for a topic. I did not register as an educator or a student, so I did not know if that would make a difference in terms of how often I could access a topic.
Web Source 3 URL: https://www.registerednursern.com
Annotation: The RegisterednurseRN.com is developed by Sarah, who is a registered nurse with a background in cardiology. The website is free and designed for nursing students and staffs. It provides information about nursing job, career tips, job outlook, and salaries. The site also provides nursing education to include nursing skills, tutorials, study tips, quizzes, lectures, and videos covering topics such as, nursing fundamentals, maternal child, GI/GU, cardiac, dosage calculation, pathophysiology, physical assessment, pharmacology, etc.
Tutorials and videos are mostly available on YouTube Channel. The website does provide a disclaimer that it is for entertainment value only and does not provide medical and nursing advice. It asks viewers to also be aware that nursing laws and practice are always changing; therefore, the website developer is not responsible for any misinformation. I found this website is helpful and beneficial for those who like to learn by watching videos. I personally felt like I was sitting in a classroom when I watched one of the videos and in a clinical while watching one of the tutorials. What I like the most is the site is free; the tutorials are easy to understand and kept up-to-date. [Show Less]
