ANSWER
What technology do you find most beneficial to use in your work or school? Least beneficial?
In recent years, the world has experienced the intensive infiltration of digital device in every sphere of life because of that, manual machine operation is becoming less effective and obsolete. In the array of digital technology, fingerprint scanner is the most beneficial device used at my work place. The least valuable device used is the identification card.
why do you find this tool useful or not?
Fingerprint scanner are safe, secure and accurate to use. Fingerprint recognition is used and trusted worldwide both in private and public sectors for identity recognition(Mil’shtein,2014). Clock in using fingerprint scanner at work, captures real-time and labor data of an employee. Employers rely on the Easy Clock time and attendance method system because it stores employee’s data in a mathematical representation which makes Identification duplicate almost impossible. The device is digitally automated to keep track of employee attendance which in return safes employers the cost of labor. In terms of patient care, the benefits of biometric system such as fingerprint scanner are unique to individual, and users do not have to carry additional hardware (Mil’shtein,2014). Therefore, fingerprint scanning can safe them time and the burden of remembering passwords. In addition, it makes Identification duplicate almost impossible and preventing identification theft and identification mix up with other patients bearing similar names, it also prevents common medication errors as well. The least valuable device used at work, is the use of Identification card because they are easy to fake, password can be forgotten, misplaced or stolen.
Then, using your imagination, look to the future and think about how this tool could be enhanced even further:
Projecting into the future, biometrics fingerprint scanner can be enhanced with built -in devices that can detect diseases or sickness, six months prior to its diagnosis. This can be detected during annual physical assessment in the doctor’s office or in a hospital setting. The process can proceed by simply placing a finger on the scanner, collects patient’s data as light radiates from the scanner then it goes through the finger tips, run down through the whole body within few seconds and record a diagnosis of an ailment detected. Chronic and inflammatory diseases such as arthritis and lupus are incurable as of now, using such device for early detection safe patient’s lives and sufferings. A demographic report confirms that every 4 out of 5 people older than age 50 years, live with one chronic disease or more (McGongel & Mastrian, 2015.pg. 318). When such machine is invented, it will reduce the number of people living with chronic diseases and the government will spend less on health care plans. Currently the government spends $539 billion per year on medical care expenses (McGongel & Mastrian, 2015. pg. 319). This money can be channeled into inventing some technology that can benefit humanity.
Describe your dream technology, with consideration for patient care and safety
Scientific technology still has grounds to cover in terms of patient care, disease prevention, diagnosis and cure. A lump sum amount of finances has been spent in treating chronic diseases because preventable medicine is still in its early stage or are not delivered properly, and patient factor of noncompliance jeopardies health provider’s efforts (as cited by Evans in MDDI, 2012). My dream technology would be to build a whole-body length digitalized device that can detect diseases before its onset and if a disease is already diagnosed it will be able to heal body cells, tissues, muscles and organs by rejuvenation. After a patient is treated for an ailment to a certain degree, the patient will be placed in this device I will name “NEO-CELL TUBE”. The neo-cell tube will have a soothing comfortable temperature and lighting, an automated voice command to alert and report every stage and progress of patient treatment, including vital signs. The body system will start functioning effectively as new cells will be produced within few hours while the old cells will die off and be eliminated. The patient’s internal organs, tissues and cells will be become brand new and outer skin will look fresh like that of a baby’s skin and glow without wrinkles. This device can also be useful in patient bunt unit. By so doing, chronic diseases will be cured such as cancer, lupus, heart failure, Alzheimer, arthritis, fibromyalgia, bone and blood diseases. In the United States, chronic conditions are the leading cause of disability, illness and death and more than 100 million are living with such conditions ((McGongel & Mastrian, 2015.pg. 319). By the reason of this procedure, the government will save patient cost of treatment, eliminate nosocomial infections and safe patients the physical, mental and emotional feeling associated with sickness.
