THINKING ABOUT GRAPHS
-
What is an independent variable ?
The variable ( or factor ) that you have control over , and which you
think will affect the dependent variable ( X )
-
What is a dependent variable ?
The variable you are measuring for results ( y )
Example daylight : You compare heights of tomato plants to # of hours of
received dally .
-
Height of plant depends on something -
possibly sunlight ( dependent)=
.
YOU control how much sunlight plants get ( independent) = ✗
↳ Y
ACTIVITY I
• Review line graphing resource pg . on i learn
.
Open google sheet from lab 1 ( jumping distance us standing height )
-
Make a graph w/ team's distance
•
Draw a best fit curve
. Is your conclusion the same or diff ?

CONCLUSION ABOUT HYPOTHESIS :
6
-
my hypothesis was that height is an advantage but not
much significant factor.
After collecting datas and graphing
it proved that height affects how far a person can jump
from a standing point . Those who are taller jumped further.
Therefor also supports my hypothesis .
