has the world gone beyond the Westphalian system?
Westphalian system pertains to the global system based on the principle of international law
that each state has a sovereignty over its territory and domestic affairs, and that each state is equal in
international law. The Westphalian system still remains the model for international politics around the
world and the concept of state sovereignty, solidified by the peace, is still the basis for modem
international treaties and conventions.
In the sense of how the world gone beyond the Westphalian system, it attributed in autonomy of
each state to sovereignty, but it did not continue and attributed in most aspects of global markets,
consumerism, migrations, internationalization, cultural aspects, and multi-furcated identities.
2. What are the difference between liberal and socialist internationalism? What are their
strengths and weaknesses?
Both ideologies advocate themselves to a greater political or economic cooperation among
nations and states through democracy and movement of commerce, but differ in expressions and visions
Liberal internationalism or liberalism pertains to concept of expanding democracy and the free
market capitalism and global industries on a global scale, and organizations should be committed to
liberal values such as universal human rights. Socialist internationalism pertains to the concept of
worldwide socialism that envisions a united world government. Organizations have goals of equality and
social justice, and envisioning a peaceful world and bringing an end to capitalism.
For liberal internationalism, it aspires for global capitalism as its strength, but it has a weakness
of ignoring the defects of capitalist-model that needs to be tempered by social values. For socialist
internationalism, it aspires for world socialism as its strength, but it has a weakness of ignoring the vast
