Describes the type of encounter the patient will have; i.e., inpt or outpt.
Occurrence Code (Claim Info)
Onset and when
Admission event
Indicates that the patient is in the hospital and is in a specific room and bed.
Transfer event
Indicates that an admitted patient has moved from one bed to a different bed.
Patient Update event
Indicates a change in time- and date-sensitive information (other than room and bed) for the patient.
Discharge event
Indicates that the patient's stay has ended.
HOV event
Indicates that a patient has arrived for a hospital outpatient visit.

Reservation Workflow
A way to create a pending admission and reserve a bed for a direct admit patient. Useful when a bed planner receives a phone call or a faxed reservation form for a patient who needs to be admitted immediately. Ch 9
Pre-Admission, Pending
Data is being entered days in advance for an admission, but that not all of the data has been collected. 9.14
Bed Planning Unit View
Overview of all beds in the hospital, sorted into columns by unit, and provides information on current and expected occupancy.
Patient Type field
Flags something special about the patient, i.e. they are a hospital employee or celebrity.

Hides an admission from other hospital staff that don't have security to view it.
