Education must develop an
... [Show More] ethical awareness of all forms of life with which humans share this planet, respect all life cycles and impose limits on human exploitation of other forms of life. Teach learners that climate change is affecting other forms of life such as affecting the natural habitats of animals, thus, this would raise awareness to protect our ecosystem through finding ways to mitigate the effects of climate change.
Environmental education must integrate knowledge, skills, values, attitudes and actions. It should convert every opportunity into an educational experience for sustainable societies. Apply this principle by educating and empowering learners to implement their learnt knowledge to reducing the impacts of climate change on the environment through active action. This can be done by encouraging learners to create social media campaigns against human carbon emissions and promote environmental friendly practices such as recycling waste instead of incinerating it.
Environmental education must stimulate dialogue and cooperation among individuals and institutions in order to create new lifestyles which are based on meeting everyone's basic needs, regardless of ethnic, gender, age, religion, class, physical or mental difference. The principle can be implemented to climate change by encouraging dialogue amongst learners to work together and find effective solutions to the problems that are causing climate change. Therefore, the dialogue can permeate outside the classroom via social platforms to reach relevant stakeholders to collaborate and implement solutions.
Environmental education should empower all peoples and promote opportunities for grassroots democratic change and participation. This means that communities regain control of their own destiny. Arm the learners about the knowledge of climate change and its impact on the lives of humans. Therefore, prompt the learners to use this knowledge to relay it to their parents in order to effect change in our communities by adopting environmental friendly practices.
Education is the right for all; we are learners I'll apply this principle by empowering my
and educators. learners and community with knowledge about the impact of climate change on the environment and ways to implement to reduce the effects.
