... [Show More] feasibility. (Points : 24)
Question 2.2. (TCO 4) What are some of the criteria deemed to be critical in defining system
requirements? (Points : 22)
Question 3.3. (TCO 6) What does a physical DFD represent? How does the physical data flow line differ
from the logical data flow line? Give an example. (Points : 22)
Feasibility is the measure of how beneficial or practical an information system w ill
be to an organization. Three kinds of feasibility are operational, technical, and
economic feasibility.
*Operational feasibility tests w hether a system is one that w ill be used effectively
after it had been developed.
*Technical feasibility tests w hether the organization has the resources to develop
or purchase, install, and operate the system.
*Economic feasibility tests w hether the projected benefits of the proposed system
outw eigh the estimated costs involved in acquiring, installing, and operating it.
These are some criteria critical in defining system requirements:
Consistent-The requirements are not conflicting or ambiguous.
Complete-The requirements describe all possible system inputs and responses.
Feasible-The requirements can be satisfied based on the available resources and
constraints.
Required-The requirements are truly needed and fulfill the purpose of the system.
Accurate-The requirements are stated correctly.
Traceable-The requirements directly map to the functions and features of the
system.
Verifiable-The requirements are defined so that they can be demonstrated during
testing.
Question 4.4. (TCO 8) You need to create a user-friendly GUI that enters data about new employees.
The employees must be categorized by department (marketing, accounting, sales, or manufacturing) and
also by whether they are full-time or part-time employees. Each employee's pay is based on how many
years of experience they have, multiplied by a base rate. How would you make the GUI appear userfriendly in its design, look, and ease of use? Consider the type of input controls you would use to make
inputting data easier. What data would you not have the user enter in any way? (Points : 22)
Question 5.5. (TCO 10) Please use an example to illustrate the process of converting a non-2NF record
to 2NF. (Points : 22)
A physical data flow diagram is a model that show s the implementation of an
information system that transports data from entry to exit. The purpose of this
diagram is to display a visual reference during the system's design w ithout
excessive jargon or w ording.
The difference betw een a logical and a physical data flow diagram, lies primarily in
how the data is identified and represented. A data flow diagram in general
represents the movement of data w ithin an organization, concentrating on its
information system. A logical DFD focuses more on the organization itself and
identifies the data-generating events that take place. A physical DFD instead is
concerned w ith how that data is represented.
For example, the benefits of a logical DFD include easy communication betw een
employees, the potential for more stable systems, better understanding of the data
and the system by analysts, and an overall flexibility. A physical DFD, on the other
hand, has a clear distinction betw een manual and automated processes, provides
more controls over the system, and identifies temporary data stores. [Show Less]
