... [Show More] the scientific method are: observation, hypothesis, experiment, results, and theory. Take a real world scenario and apply the scientific method, being sure to detail the controls on your experiment. Describe a result that would confirm your hypothesis.
Answer 1
OBSERVATION: Been using fertilizer, Magical Grow for a year. I am not satisfied of how long it takes for my plan to grow and how big it gets. I decided to use two other types of fertilizer to find which will give me the best result, for a taller and more flourish plant. I will be using the fertilizer I am using now, Magical Grow, 2nd fertilizer will be Super Plant, and 3rd will be Miracle Grow. The control will be my initial fertilizer I been using.
HYPOTHESIS: My hypothesis is that I believe the outcome will be they all will not grow at the same rate, and that the Miracle Grow having better quality of fertilizer will cause my plant to be more flourish and taller
Control: I will use the 3 types of fertilizers in three different pots, same size, in a green-house under the same temperature and light and water same amount at the same time.
Experiment: Used the same type of plant. Three different pots same size in the green house using the three different types of fertilizers. Every other day the plants will get 2 mins of water and placed in the same location to receive the same amount of sunlight, with the green house staying at temperature of 70 degrees Fahrenheit for 4 weeks. Measuring their growth every week.
Plant pot A: Fertilizer Magical Grow
Plant pot B: Fertilizer Magical Grow
Plant pot C: Fertilizer Miracle Grow
Result: Each week, I measured the plants in cm to obtain which fertilizer is nourishing the plant best. Week one the plants were growing at the same rate, week two Plant A and B were 5 inches each and plant C was 7 inches, week 3 Plant A was 6 inches, plant B was 6.5 inches and plant C was 10 inches. Week 4, plants in pot A and B stayed the same length but the plant in pot C, Miracle Grow, grew 2 more inches.
THEORY: My hypothesis was correct and Plant C, Miracle Grow having the better quality of fertilizer nourished the plan better and allow it to grow taller than the other two plants.
Answer 2
The scientific method is essentially a problem solving mechanism that we can use in our daily lives.
When you go to your automobile and it will not start, you can apply the scientific method on a hypothesis that the battery is the base of all beginnings of problems.
OBSERVATION: One would get in a vehicle and it won't start. Hypothesis: Your cars battery may be below cold cranking amps or volts. There are many possibilities as to why it may not start but it is most commonly due to a battery.
EXPERIMENT: I bring a five gallon gas can with me and fill it up with gasoline in the event it is on empty.
Results: The car started on my first attempt.
THEORY/ CONCLUSION: Once 1 put the gas in my tank and tried to start my car, it started. My car was out of gas.
INDEPENDENT VARIABLE: The fuel put in the vehicle. Dependent Variable; The starting of the vehicle Control: The vehicle and the fuel used. [Show Less]
