... [Show More] the HCAHPS scores for is Sentara Leigh Hospital located in Norfolk, Virginia. This facility is a not-for-profit healthcare organization that focuses on acute care. This facility has a very high rate of patient satisfaction, indicating that discharged patients would recommend this hospitals to others.
In comparing the scores of Sentara Leigh Hospital to the state and national averages, Sentara Leigh is well above average in all the categories and is rated at four out of five stars. The average for Virginia and national averages for communication amongst nurses to patients currently is about 80%. (Sentara Leigh Hospital, 2016) The average for Sentara Leigh is currently 84% according to the Hospital Compare website. (Sentara Leigh Hospital, 2016) Sentara Leigh at 64% was approximately 2% below the Virginia average and approximately 5% below the national average in saying they (patients) always received help as soon as they wanted. (Sentara Leigh Hospital, 2016) This is something Sentara Leigh can set as a goal to make improvements to ensure patients feel they are always a priority. Former Sentara Leigh patients have rated them above the average for state and national regarding always feeling their pain was always well controlled; reporting staff always explained medication prior to administration; quietness of hospital; recovery information at home when discharged; and lastly patients understood their care needed at the time of discharge (Medicare, n.d.-a).
