Service Line Development Task 4
Determine the
... [Show More] feasibility of one of the proposed service lines by doing the following:
1) Evaluate the demand for the new service line cardiac center
According to the fact sheet, community hospital is a service organization that is located in an area that has a thriving population and comes out as its primary service region. The location is comprised of high technology businesses as well as industry oriented businesses. Retirees particularly find the area attractive because of other additional factors such as a mild climate, important cultural resources, and strong educational system. The hospital is surrounded by an immediate population of over 400, 000 that grows at a rate of 4% every year. The extended population of the county is 900,000 and is all comprised of all ranges of ages with the highest percentage being that of the productive ones of between 18 and 60 years. With this, the hospital can only expect a rise in the demand for health care over the next few years. Judging from the competition, they have been making improvements and expansions of their own like the procurement of their own air ambulance service. This can only mean that the outlook for health services in the region is going to increase steadily. Finally, the financial back up fund for expansion is sufficient to rejuvenate the declining profits of the years that have been witnessed recently. Therefore, from the three options that the hospital can develop, the highest population ranges from 18-64 years, and 13% of the population being over 65 years. With this advanced population age set, it is foreseeable that the hospital will be witnessing a rise in cardiac related issues due to the advanced age of many of its clients. It is therefore, feasible that a cardiac center will be a viable proposition for the hospital to invest in, in order to better serve the community. [Show Less]
