1.) The teacher uses the phrase, “Class. Class. Class,” when she wants to get their attention. The students respond with, “Yes. Yes. Yes,” sit facing the teacher with their hands in their laps, and give her their full attention.
2.) She used a song during to get the students attention at circle and after each line she sang, the students replied, “ok,” and did what she asked them to do in that line of the song.
After the puppet show, the students were moving around and visiting. The teacher needed to regain control of the class to move on to the next segment of the day. To get their attention, she moved to the front of the group and said, “Class, class, class.” By the time she finished with the simple phrase, some of the students started the reply, “Yes, yes, yes.” By the time the students got to the second yes, the group had sat down with their hands in their lap, giving her their full attention. Once she had their attention, she said, “You are all going to earn another smiley today.” The class continued to listen as she gave directions for the next task. She told the students that were on one chart on the wall that they would be going into the hall for art class. The other part of the group was told to go to the rug for group time with the teacher. They were instructed to sit hip to hip with their partner on the rug while she walked the other group to the hall.
She returned to the group on the rug and started to sing a song. She sang, “Turn your bodies this way.” The students turned to her and sang, “Ok,” in reply. Each time she sang a line from the song; the students complied and said ok. By the time she was finished with the short song, the students were ready to begin the task. [Show Less]
