To guarantee that learning is not inhibited, the Department of Education used a distance learning approach, a learning delivery model in which contact occurs during teaching among a teacher and students who are separated from one another. Thus, this research study determines the modular approach in teaching mathematics among grade 6 teachers in Viga (East & West) Districts and the possible justifications of the research problem. The findings and conclusions revealed that teachers employed a modular approach in the preparation of learning materials; modular distance learning was the most frequently used in delivering the lesson; and lastly, data recording analyses and problem sets were the most frequently used evaluation tools in evaluating the written outputs of the students; portfolios in evaluating the students' products; and problem posing in evaluating the performance-based tasks of the students. In challenges faced by Grade 6 mathematics teachers, the researchers found that time-consuming, hard to monitor due to limited face-to-face transactions and modules with no answers or incomplete answers, and low student scores were the observed problems. In employed teaching innovations, printed learning materials, parent-guardian assistance, and self-assessment are the most employed. With the study findings and conclusions, the study recommends having additional training programs training program will help the grade 6 mathematics teachers to gain knowledge and skills that will aid in: adapting to the new normal of education; getting more acquainted with the updated model of education; and enhancing their capacity and capability to create teaching innovations that will address various challenges that they might face in the modular distance learning mode of education.
