Patient satisfaction or experience is highly important, evidence suggest a correlation between patient experience and health outcomes which is typically used as an indicator to measure the quality of care provided. One method of collecting data in regard to patient satisfaction is the use of surveys. In the United States standardized patient experience surveys are randomly mailed out to patient’s in order collect data, while the United Kingdom uses the General Practitioner Patient Survey (GP patient survey). This particular survey is distributed twice a year covering thirteen areas of measurement that provide standardized, reliable, comparable information pertaining to patient perception and experience. The study concluded that patient evaluations focus on the physician and excluded the nurse’s role. The statistical data collected through this study indicates the length of time or interaction with the provider and responsiveness of the practice are the two main areas requiring immediate attention. Based on statistical data collected, allows for the development and implementation of measures to improve patient satisfaction and quality of care (Hudson & Smith, 2018).
